What Promises Are You Waiting to Come?

When Abraham was 75 years, God promised to give him descendants that would create a great nation.
Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: Genesis 12:1-2
It was hard for me to leave Jacksonville. I had phone, internet, USPS and a car to keep me connected to it. Abraham left it ALL behind- country, kindred and his father's house (which represents inheritance.) THEN God would make of him a great nation.
At age 99, Abraham was still waiting. Still he did not go back to his old familiar life. He believe in God Almighty - El Shaddai- whose very name refers to His all sufficiency and mighty power to accomplish His promises.
God's ways are not often ours. He asked Abraham to circumcise ALL boys and men in his household including himself.
Can you even fathom undergoing circumcision at age 99? Yet God always asks us to cut away the flesh before He can use us to fulfill His will for our lives.
Each of us must get before God and ask what fleshly thing must be cut from our life to better serve Him?
I know what mine is. Do you know what He is asking you to cut away?
Painful?
I guarantee it.
Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected [us], and we gave [them] reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened [us] after their own pleasure; but he for [our] profit, that [we] might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Hebrews 12:9-11
